Hi guys, today I am going to talk about self love; the reason I am going to start with this subject is because, this is a very important subject for me and it should be to everyone. Self love is when you accept yourself, when you don’t think of negative opinions about yourself, when you know exactly who you are and aren’t gonna depend from other people. I am going to give my perspective of what I think and what I had read about this subject in this blog but, first I am going to put the actual definition of what it means.
Regard for one’s own well-being and happiness (chiefly considered as a desirable rather than narcissistic characteristic).
For what I’ve lived and had realize is that this subject is one of the most important things you should focus on, which is YOURSELF.
Because to learn to love you have to start with yourself. You may had heard in movies, books or other things that you need to love yourself first and get to know yourself before starting to love another person. Everything starts with yourself, you are the only person who is going to stand by yourself for all the years that you are alive.
I’ve seen stories and seen people who start to think they are not worth it… honey, you are in this world for a reason, nobody is in this world without a reason, everyone has a faith, even if this the cheesiest thing to say, is the truth. At the end you are the one who starts to make your life choices for the good or wrong.
I understand that it also depends on how you are raised in your home, some people found themselves when they grow up, but that’s normal, because everyone is constantly changing within years pass by. But when you start to realize how important you are and know your worth, you want to keep going with your life. You would start to understand that sometimes life is hard but that does’t mean that is going to change you as the great person you are. The mistakes that happens in your life, the problems, the stress, the disappointments, are just big tasks that you need to go through and pass. There are lot’s of ways to improve yourself and feel better, remember is not to change yourself, never change the way you are, this is even better; improve yourself and evolve. But this are things that you always have to see them as a lesson and that this WON’T LET YOU GAVE UP ON YOURSELF.
For example: Karisma Collins is a youtuber/influencer who recently posted some picture of her new hairstyle and shared with all of her followers how she found herself.
Another great example is when you feel lost, sometimes you find yourself doing the things you love the most. Which that is even better because you already know yourself, then you gotta focus on loving yourself. Sometimes doing what you are passionate about, what you have dreamed of, completing one of your goals is what makes you feel complete. So when that happens you realize you feel worth it suddenly, you feel happiness and as you start to feel good with yourself you really start to love yourself.
Here are some keys to start treating yourself better, because you are worth it and if you feel that you need to fix some things, here are some keys that might help you:
- Choosing yourself first
- Eating properly (and it doesn’t mean to have a strict diet, but at least eat 3 times a day so you can be healthy. Whether you prefer healthy, vegetarian, junk food, etc. Try to at least be healthy in some ways, because we don’t want you to suffer from any desease. )
- Giving our body the comfort, exercise and care it needs. (If you don’t exercise is good, is not for everyone but depending on the person a nice walk might be nice, having a spa day at your house, a massage, great resting, keeping it hydrated, etc.)
- Doing things you love
- Trusting the path that our soul is on
- Allowing ourselves to dream big, without contaminating these dreams with judgments, our perceived limitations, or a lack of sense of deserving.
- Knowing how we’re spending our emotional, mental, financial, and physical energy, and whether these activities bring back joy, connection, nurturing, rest, and creativity to our lives. (I know sometimes is hard to keep track on this things
- Loving and accepting ourselves even when we fail miserably at some of these self-love goals.
Start to do the things that you love. Put yourself first, is time you think about yourself first for once, is good to worry about other people or other situations buy your mental health is more important that all of that. Don’t push yourself too hard, try to take things easy, because you deserve sometimes a break and some peace. Have a balance in your life, after doing your responsibilities, treat yourself, because I know you are a hard working person and if you are not, is okay, you still need to treat yourself. Have a different routine, try not to do the same thing everyday, try to go out once in a while, go to the places you love and if you can’t, just go outside and look at the sky. Contemplate nature. Contemplate yourself. Have some peaceful time with yourself once a week at least.
To finish this blog I want everyone to NEVER forget about this words.
DO THE THINGS YOU LOVE. WORK FOR WHAT YOU WANT. FIGHT FOR YOUR DREAMS. DON’T DO SOMETHING YOU DON’T WANT TO. DO WHAT YOUR HEART WANTS. (even if you are not sure, if is something you really want or are curious, do it, you only live once). HAVE THE ADVENTURES YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO HAVE. JUST DO, NOT DREAM. DON’T THINK TWICE OR YOU’LL DOUBT IT. THINK ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS. LIVE, NOT SURVIVE. BE POSITIVE. BE THE PERSON YOU WANT TO BE. BE WHAT YOU LOVE, NOT WHAT THEY TELL YOU. BE HAPPY. BE YOU. LOVE YOURSELF.
